Hola loves ♥ Mexico is such a beautiful and vibrant place and I want to share the journey with you. We stayed in Playa de Carmen, Mexico which is part of the Riviera Maya. This area is known for their bustling 5th ave where restaurants, hotel and shops line the streets.
One of my favorite things about Mexico is the people, they are very hardworking, friendly and take a lot of pride in their culture. Everything they sell is handmade by their families and shows beautiful craftsmanship.
Mexico is known for their Mayan Ruins which have many spiritual stories attach to them that date back to more than 500 years ago. They are breathtaking to look at. The ruins are in their natural habitat which is the jungle. Many of the ruins are blocked off to preserve their beauty. The photos below were taken in Tulum, Mexico at the Tulum Ruins. A must see!
The fashion is all about expressing your individuality with bright colors, lots of arm candy, cool handmade purses and jewelry. I bought many handmade bracelets right on the street and on the beach. There are so many shops that sell unique pieces that you wont find in the United States.
What would be a vacation without great food? ! It was a foodie paradise for very inexpensive. I had some of the best tacos in Mexico that were filled with fresh fish or shrimp. If your a meat lover I suggest trying the Al Pastor tacos, where meat is carved right off a spit and is bursting with authentic flavors.
Our last excursion was to Cozumel, Mexico, a secluded island near Playa de Carmen. You can get there by ferry for about $55 US per person round trip. Once you arrive on the island there is so much to see and do. I recommend renting a jeep so you can explore the whole island. We stopped at Money Beach Bar and had the best Ceviche and snorkeled in crystal blue water. There were so many fish to see and they were so colorful. We made stops along the way picking up handmade goods like blankets to bring back home and grabbed a fresh coconut to go. We made it around the whole island in 3 hours and met some new friends along the way!
We had such a wonderful time and loved exploring in a different country. My top tips would be to bring or buy bug spray and stay hydrated if you plan on visiting Mexico.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I will do more of these posts on our next travels so don’t forget to follow 🙂
